Save a life by listening.

I started writing and ended up with a note with 1500+ words.. so planned not to post it at all.

I can’t sedate you guys like that so I will try to talk about most important part of it.

Listen to people when they are pouring their hearts out in front of you.

You have no idea what you are doing for them.

You are helping them draining their stress.

You are giving validation to their unheard cries.

You are helping them gather their scattered confidence to open up and talk.

You are helping heal a wound that can fester and grow into untreatable cancer with time.

You are standing by them in their inner battles.

Be there where you can.

I saw miraculous progress in my father’s case because he has people to listen to him.

We all have planned our lives such a way that one of us is always around. There is a small fraction of day when he is alone we try to be around on call during that time.

After a long time I am calling him Daddu again and I can see his old smile.

He’s not calling me stoner yet but we will get there soon InshaAllah.

All of this because of strong support system. We hid our pain and struggles and focused on him as that’s most important right now.

I know this is one of the kindest place ever. I am able to fight and dream because I have you guys.

We can do it for others too.

Try to be a good listener you might actually be saving a life.
