Why mailing list?

I feel like I need to clear some misconceptions here.

When I started working on my book in the end of 2018, I was new to this whole self-publishing thing.

This poetry collection means a lot more than a book to me.

All my poems were written in an extremely vulnerable phase of my life, I don’t think I can write anything close to it in my normal frame of mind.

It’s me pouring my heart out, un-filtered.

That means it’s not just a product for me, therefore I wanted to make everything as perfect as I can.

I took insane amount of time to learn writing, formatting, self-publishing, Amazon KDP, marketing, selling, and everything in between.

Somewhere along the process I got to know it’s an effective practice to have a mailing list.

Now I know what having a mailing list sounds like. It screams spam mails.

But it depends on how you are using it.

In this 1 year I have sent 2 mails to my mailing list, 1 announcing availability for pre-orders, other announcing availability for purchase.

That’s all.

I don’t have time for irrelevant marketing tactics. I deeply respect my readers, their time, attention and appreciation of my work. And I’m not going to lose it at any cost.

1 year back, I hadn’t professionally done Email marketing, which I did later as it’s a part of my current profession. So I know a little better now.

I will be using mailchimp or any other vendor for the purpose.

But the rule is same.

You will be only bothered when I really have to inform you about a major development, like availability of the book(s) or price change (which I dont intend to do anytime sooner). I can’t even think of anything more right now.

From marketing perspective it’s still a good practice since a lot of regular readers still can miss your announcements on your blog. I tend to miss a lot of updates from blogs I try to keep up with.

But using it sensibly is the key.

So, in case you want to be informed about any important update about my book(s), please drop your email address in the comments below or you can send it to me through contact form.

You email addresses are 100% safe with me and won’t be share anywhere (why would I, when I had to sent private messages to 2000+ followers to gather a list of 100?)

This is work!

And if you don’t want to be a part of this, I won’t hate you lol.

Well. I thought I should address this as I asked someone randomly and felt like I was snatching their wallet or something.

So yea, that’s all for now 🙂

  1. Thank you so much for the reminder that you won’t hate me. I used to write poetry until my dad died and somehow my interest in poetry went with him.

  2. I can attest to that Stoner…i gave you my email last year and have only ever received those two emails from you that you’ve noted above. Looking forward to hearing more about it soon though ❤❤
