10 days without anxiety was like a break from life.
And now we have brand new rounds of panic.
I use one of my pastel paintings (done with soft pastels) as cover of my ebook. Now that part was easy relatively. For paperback KDP has requirements even when you choose the simplest tool.
After I took picture of my artwork I tried to fix it using a fixative and that made all the colours and shading sink into the paper. I was left with dull outlines.
Now kdp tell me that image doesn’t meet specification… imagine the horror!
I’m trying to submit it anyway. As there is minor difference maybe it will get approved still.
I need feedback from you all.
Please feel free to criticize and make suggestions.
No matter how brutal it is, it’s only going to help me improve.
Thank you in advance 🙂
Update: Image problem solved. following is updated cover, as I wanted it initially. I fixed it in photoshop.
Thank you! you guys are the best!
Looks good to me. Couldn’t see any typos in the text. As someone who’s in the throes of learning how KDP works, I’m interested in what it is that’s wrong with the cover that KDP didn’t like… ?

it says “we recommend at least 300 DPI for quality printing but this image is only 266 DPI. please chose another high-res image or scale this one down.
for some weird reason writing it down is bringing a few solutions in my mind.
thanks

I really dislike Cover Creator, although not so much that I’d try to create my own instead. I think your cover looks great. The only suggestion I can think of is to try shrinking your the front cover image a bit. It may not like the amount of stuff going on above the dotted line on the front cover, because that bit ends up getting chopped off.

thats what i thought, i don’t like how rigid cover creator is but i am not going to go hectic route of doing the whole thing on my own..and then get rejected because i heard that happens aqs your cover is not as par kdp specifications.
actually the top part of image is not that attractive for a book cover as most of it is just forehead or hair. i wanted eye to be on top right like in ebook, but then image quality is getting worse for paperback.
i will look if i have more pictures of the same image by any chance.
thanks for helping

OK. Do you have an original copy of it? They are probably concerned it will be blurry when they print the final version. So it will have to be rescanned. Try to use an actual scanner rather than taking a pic from your phone. You don’t want to go through all this work and then have a blurry cover, which no one will take your book serious

I love the art on your cover. I agree with Ashley, maybe you can try shrinking the image and that will help. I’m wishing you the best of luck!!

i’m googling how to reduce dpi of an image, shrinking is messing up with the placement of image. maybe i will shrink a little too. never thought I will get stuck on cover.
thank you!

The image is great but the title font lets it down a bit.
Font and image should harmonize to form a single statement.

LOL. My friend and I were exploring ‘herbal and floral’ methods of,um, disposal earlier cos we are demented and looove Deadly Women. A seemingly natural death brings no suspicion (she says, as stirring white oleander into city water supply.) Ha ha ha.

I can’t wait to see the paperback live on Amazon!
The cover looks great! I could not use the image I wanted for my latest book release. So we chose one from the gallery on Kindle Direct.

i cant wait either. but its taking so long to get there. paperback is way harder than ebook.
why couldn’t use the image you wanted?

I think it said it needed to be 300 dpi? Mine was 47 dpi! So I had to start again!
