Darkness #writephoto #poetry

The sky thundered in my throat
And clouds tased someone on the horizon
Baffled raindrops fell in my coffee
Maybe they were trying to help me
I was drinking tar, thick bitter sour…
The darkness hovered over the town
Sending people to their homes
Like ants crawling back into their holes
And here I was, watching the world go grey
As my coffee thinned on the beat of an old clock
I waited, etched in my window
Waited for the storm to calm
Not the one I was looking at
The one that whisked in my heart
