Murky Skies #poetry

I see darkness
With eyes wide open
In broad day light

Has the sun stopped shining?
Or stars have died
To ashes as grey
As dead eyes

Like wounded smiles
And withering memories
Few moments of joy
Swallowed by lies

Or just like forgotten souls
Who faded from our lives
Once they ascended
To murky skies

Or specs of kindness
That flew around like stardust
But the wrath of fate
Torched those poor fireflies

Then they say I have trust issues
Go ahead prove otherwise
In the hands of reckless souls
The weak are just mutilated toys
